Celebrant : Dear brothers and sisters, today's readings focus on the call to holiness of life. We pray that we may give up everything in life that keeps us from striving towards holiness.

  1. That, along with Pope Francis, all priests and religious, we may preach the Gospel with courage, prayer and humility and thus help the Church to grow in the world. For this let us pray to the Lord.

Today we celebrate Bible Sunday. The Word that has been our guiding force from centuries together, the Word that has inspired millions of lives and the Word that encourages us to love, serve and live according to God's plan. Today we pray that the Word may fill us with new life and invigorate us to love God and our neighbour.

Celebrant : God our Father, we thank you for this celebration of Bible Sunday to remind us of the importance of Your Word in our lives. We pray that you will continue to support and guide us through your word.

MARCH 05, 2017

2ND SUNDAY OF LENT
MARCH 12, 2017

Celebrant : Dear brothers and sisters, let us pray with confidence to our Heavenly Father for all our needs, through His Son and in the Holy Spirit.

  1. Every month, all across the world, on an average, there are 772 violent acts committed against Christians, 322 Christians are killed for their beliefs and 214 churches and places of worship destroyed. We pray for those Christians who are persecuted and are forced to leave their homes and families to find safety.

  2. Pope Francis calls on Christians to consult the Bible with the same frequency as we consult our cellphones for messages. We pray that we may use God's Word to fight evil and keep us close to Him at all times.

  3. For all the Lenten activities and programmes in our church every day of the week; that they may help us to walk closely with Jesus during this holy season.

3rd SUNDAY OF LENT
MARCH 19, 2017

Celebrant : Dear friends, God has made an everlasting covenant with us in Jesus Christ. Therefore, we have the courage to approach His throne of mercy with our petitions and needs.

  1. For Pope Francis who completed four years of his pontificate this past week : that he may continue with his openness and outreach towards the most vulnerable and that he may always remain attentive to the voice and guidance of the Holy Spirit.

  2. That we emulate St Joseph, whose feast we celebrate tomorrow, in humility and obedience to the will of God. We also pray for all our earthly fathers.

  1. We join the Holy Father in praying for young people to respond generously to their vocations and to seriously consider offering themselves to God in the priesthood or consecrated life.

Celebrant : On this Divine Mercy Sunday, let us turn to our Father, believing that in His mercy and love, he will listen to our every prayer and petition and grant us what is good for us.

  1. For the Holy Father, all bishops and priests, that they may be channels of God's mercy, especially to those who come to them in the Sacrament of Reconciliation. We pray to the Lord.

  2. For all the troubled regions of the world, especially those facing civil war, violence, unrest and terrorism, that the peace of Christ may prevail and all may live in harmony and mutual understanding. We pray to the Lord.

Celebrant : Dear brothers and sisters, today we celebrate Good Shepherd Sunday. With confidence, let us pray to our loving Father for vocations to the priesthood and the religious life, and to send wise, committed and holy shepherds to tend His flock, saying :

  1. We pray for our Holy Father, Pope Francis, the shepherd of the Universal flock of Christ, the bishops who are shepherds of their local churches, and the priests who shepherd the flock at parish level. In a special way, we pray for the priests of our parish : Fr.Vincy, Fr.Maurice, Fr.Errol, Fr.Robin, Fr.James, Fr.Felix, who will be leaving us soon, and Fr.Baptist, who will be joining the parish team.

  2. We pray for our children and youth who have begun their summer vacation, that they may enjoy themselves and at the same time, keep away from all evil influences and bad company.

ASCENSION OF THE LORD

Celebrant : Dear brothers and sisters, Jesus has ascended to heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. Let us place our petitions and needs before Him, knowing that He will present them to the Father.

  1. Pope Francis reminds us that Jesus walks with us even in the most painful moments of our lives. Let us pray that we may never give up hope even in the midst of sadness and disappointment and keep our gaze on Jesus.

Introduction : Today we celebrate the feast of the founder of the Society of Jesus or the Jesuits, St. Ignatius of Loyola. He made such an impact on the world that he is remembered so vividly more than 450 years after his death. One quality among many others that characterized his life above all others was his deep personal life for the person of Jesus Christ. Jesus was and remained his one inspiration and this is the main reason why he named the Society that he founded after Jesus.

As we celebrate the feast of St. Ignatius, let us ask for his intercession that we too like him might always keep our gaze fixed on the Lord.

PRAYERS OF THE FAITHFUL
Priest : His deep personal love for Jesus allowed Ignatius to do great things for him without counting the cost. Let us ask him to intercede with our Lord Jesus that we too might receive this grace and blessing.
